Nilo (닐로) was in the Music Access studio for VIP Access with DJ Lex. Nilo debuted in 2015 and he is under Nilo Company and LIMEZ Entertainment.
Tidbits::
– When songwriting, he writes about his experience but he also focuses on how the audience will receive the song and tries to find the right lyrics and emotion.
– He was a member of an acapella group for about 8 years with 5 other people.
– Nilo started getting into music in high school in about 10th grade. He went to an academy to learn music, and then joined his acapella group when he was 20.
– When he has a schedule the next day he forces himself to go to sleep.
– He loves bread, and it’s the first thing he orders at restaurants. However, if he could eat one food for the rest of his life that food item isn’t bread.
– He likes americanos and thinks it’s cruel to put milk in coffee, so he never drinks lattes from coffee shops.
– One item he can’t throw away is a pair of clippers that he received as a gift from the pianist who participated in 지나오다 (Pass by).
– When at Karaoke rooms he usually sings rock songs, and instead of waiting for the score he moves onto the next song. He usually turns the score feature off.
– In school his favorite class was math, and his least favorite was history.
– His signature song is 지나오다 (Pass by) because when people hear it they think Nilo.

Q: What kind of song is (unnamed emotion)?
A: It a warm song. With this song, he focused more on the lyrics than the melody.
Q: Why did you choose Nilo as your name?
A: He wanted a name with two syllables. He gives it the meaning of “he who likes blue.” The ‘O’ comes from his last name.

DJ Sophiya and DJ LEX

DJ Sophiya from Arirang Radio’s Cine Factory was in the Music Access studio for VIP Access to interview DJ Lex. Lex debuted in 2017 as a member of Bigflo, and he’s currently under HO Company.
Tidbits::
– DJ Sophiya and her husband Distract composed (melody and top line) and worked on SIP with Lex. Lex wrote the Korean lyrics.
– There were times during recording when Lex changed how he was singing (musical style, trot) and DJ Sophiya would be hard on him.
– Lex will be on a dance show that is supposed to air in February.
– Doing a zombie apocalypse he would have his dog Buddy and a golf club.
– During a drama that he has been filming he discovered that he likes being the bad person.
– Arirang Radio staff have given him nicknames: Arirang Prince, Lexy (lex and sexy), and Fool Next Door.
– If he had a superpower he would like to have the power to stop time.
– If the world were to end tomorrow he would sleep, on this particular day.
– His members contacted him to congratulate him on his solo work and solo debut. Ron said the song was “not bad.”
– Music is the reason he came to South Korea.

Q: Why did you name the song SIP?
A: He wanted to do a play on words. It does mean to sip on something, but when said in Korean it means 10.
Q: What do you like or hate about the winter season?
A: I love that his birthday is in the winter season. He likes winter fashion (the layers and different outfits). He doesn’t like the cold, but he also doesn’t like the stickiness of summer.
Q: What is the difference between being in a group? What are the pros and cons?
A: Being solo he got more lines and more say in how the song goes. Being in a group the songs and the rewards are divide amongst the members. Being solo all the pressure is on you, and you can’t blame someone else when things go bad.

Soyoung (소영)

Soyoung was in the Music Access studio for VIP Access with DJ Benji. Soyoung (소영) debuted in 2017 as a member of Stellar, and she is currently under WKENM.
Tidbits::
– She wanted to be in an indie music group.
– One of the strong points of the music is I’d she can feel it.
– Soyoung can play the piano and the drums.
– They had to put ice on her so she wouldn’t overheat during the filming of her music video.
– There is a place in New Zealand that she would like to go fish.
– Soyoung thinks fish tasted better when she is the one who catches it.
– Her small happiness is finding pretty minimalist/modern cafes.
– If she could only eat one food for the rest of her life it would be ddukbokki.
– Her favorite compliment is your pretty.
– Soyoung would like to do a duet with Bi (Rain).
– She likes doing lots of different sports activities.
– Her motto is Spero Spera (내가 숨을 쉬는 한, 희망을 있다) which means “as long as I breathe, there’s hope.”

Gift (기프트)
Gift was in the Music Access studio for VIP Access with DJ Benji. Gift (기프트) is a rock trio that debuted in 2018 under Roxta Muzik.

Tidbits::
– They were part of Show Champion, and Superband. Comparing the two the considered Superband to be more free than Show Champion.
– Hwikyum is currently serving his mandatory military duty.
– Hyungwoo was concerned about being able to hold his own on the shows. He learned that he has his own identity and something to bring to the table.
– Joohyuk described his childhood as quiet, and Hyungwoo described his as happy.
– They have created a fancafe and they find happiness in reading the To Gift section.
– Joohyuk’s small happiness is playing games and then falling asleep.
– If they could only eat one food for the rest of their life it would be ramen (because there is a large variety) or sal (rice (because rice is life)).

A: The song is a reflective track looking at the person you are and the person you thought you’d be.
